Events at the museum
The “Broken Symmetries” workshop will take place at 2 pm. You can either use the particle accelerator constructed out of a vinyl disc player to draw on paper the traces of undiscovered particles, or paint an abstract with magnets. Registration takes place in the classroom according to the number of places available
3 pm: Introduction of the Broken Symmetries exhibition. Kati Ilves, in Estonian. Pre-registration: https://form.jotform.com/210402078609349

The Broken Symmetries exhibition presents the artists’ interpretations of the complex and exciting field of particle physics. All of the works on display got their start during artists’ residencies at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). The exhibition brings together twelve works of art by eleven artists from different countries, who delved into the complex language of physics in order to acquire a better understanding of nature and matter, and who observed elementary particle physics experiments in the laboratory. The exhibition also provides an idea of the synergies that developed between the artists and CERN’s community of scientists, engineers and laboratory staff. Covering a range of different artistic practices, the works in this exhibition express narratives that have their roots in the fundamentals and philosophical origins of science.
