Introduction by Marianna Kaat

Ivanna, a nomadic reindeer herder in the Russian arctic and mother of five kids, is forced to leave her traditional way of life and move to the city, due to the quickly deteriorating conditions of life on the tundra. With great intimacy and empathy, this film reveals the struggle of Ivanna to gain control over her life and future.

For four years, the film follows Ivanna’s dramatic twists and turns, from her past on the tundra to the present, where she lives with her five children in Norilsk, Siberia.
