Sold out! Gold, Pure Gold!
At Christmas, there is a lot of beautiful golden glitter and tinsel everywhere around us, including in our homes. What if we gilded something ourselves, a Christmas tree decoration or a brooch to give a loved one as a present?

The course will be held in Estonian. Instruction is also possible in English.
In the gilding workshop, the participants will learn the traditional technique of oil gilding. An introduction to the different gilding techniques and methods will be offered, including how to prepare a surface for gilding. After that, an overview of the history of gilding and its various techniques will be provided, and gilded objects in the Kumu permanent display will be viewed. Gilding a pre-primed surface with gold leaf will then be carried out in the workshop. Participants are encouraged to bring their own objects that they would like to gild, with maximum measurements of 6 × 6 × 6 cm (a Christmas tree decoration, a brooch, a pendant etc.). The object will be gilded with 22-carat gold leaf.
No prior knowledge of gilding is required to participate in the workshop.
