Family Morning: The Body Language of Materials
In March, families are invited to explore together Kumu’s permanent exhibition Landscapes of Identity: Estonian Art 1700–1945. This Family Morning focuses on sculpture, shapes, and materials. We will look at the different materials artists use and how materials are shown in artworks. We will explore sculptures and other three-dimensional objects, noticing their forms, poses, and the emotions they express.
Along the way, we will also get a glimpse of Estonian art history — from portraits to stories from folklore and mythology, from experimental works to models and sculptural installations. At the end of the visit, everyone can try out their own ideas in the studio through a creative activity that invites spatial and hands-on thinking.
About the Series
Kumu’s Family Mornings are meant for families with children between the ages of 4 and 8. Each meeting involves visiting an exhibition together, using playful methods to analyse it, and creating something with our hands. Guided by one of Kumu’s educators, the Family Mornings bring art closer to young art lovers through age-appropriate questions, discussions and exercises, while enabling parents to discover art in unexpected ways, too.
A Family Morning is a wonderful opportunity to spend time with your family, discover art and gain unforgettable experiences!
NB! Please note that the art museum’s exhibitions may contain works of art depicting nudity.
