Major exhibition showcasing the works of Konrad Mägi opens at Dulwich Picture Gallery in London
Kumu Art MuseumThe Art Museum of Estonia is the main partner of the major retrospective exhibition of Konrad Mägi’s works opening on 24 March at Dulwich Picture Gallery in London, featuring more than 60 works. This is the first exhibition in the UK dedicated to one of Estonia’s most renowned modernists. The contemporary artist Kristina Õllek has also been invited to participate in the exhibition.

The exhibition at the Kumu Art Museum introduces the artist Karin Luts and her travel images
Kumu Art MuseumThe exhibition Pictures from Travels, introducing the works of one of the most prominent Estonian artists of the early 20th century, Karin Luts (1904–1993), opens at the Kumu Art Museum on 20 March. The exhibition focuses on watercolours and sketches from Luts’s trips to Italy, Spain and France, as well as the artist’s final homeland, Sweden. The exhibition at Kumu is a further development of the exhibition of the same name that took place at the Tartu Art Museum.

The family of Enno Hallek, one of most important Estonian artists in exile, is donating thirteen of his works from his peak period to the Estonian Art Museum
Kumu Art MuseumOn 26 February, Enno Hallek’s daughter Camilla Hallek and Sirje Helme, Director General of the Art Museum of Estonia, signed a donation agreement in Stockholm, according to which thirteen works by Enno Hallek from the years 1990–2010 will be added to the museum’s collection.

Kumu’s anniversary year kicks off with an exhibition on art in the age of artificial intelligence
Kumu Art MuseumOn Friday, 13 February, the exhibition Triumph of Galatea: Art in the Age of Artificial Intelligence will open in the contemporary art gallery on the 5th floor of the Kumu Art Museum, examining changes and developments in human experience in culture and society in connection with the onslaught of new technologies. The exhibition is being curated by Anders Härm. The opening of the exhibition also marks the start of the special programme of Kumu’s 20th anniversary.

Heirs of the Art Collector Evald Timusk Donate Seven Works by Prominent Estonian Artists to the Art Museum of Estonia
Adamson-Eric MuseumAt the end of 2025, the Art Museum of Estonia received a valuable donation from a private collection in Canada: the family of Evald and Alide Timusk donated seven artworks by well-known Estonian artists, including Adamson-Eric, Johannes Greenberg, Jaan Grünberg, Eerik Haamer, Karin Luts and Eduard Rüga.

Last year, the Art Museum of Estonia was visited by 388,600 art lovers
Art Museum of EstoniaIn 2025, the Art Museum of Estonia’s branches, exhibitions and public programmes were visited by 388,600 art lovers.Over the course of the year, the number of visitors to the Art Museum of Estonia increased significantly. While art lovers visited our museums about 350,000 times each in 2023 and 2024, last year there were 38,600 more visitors.

Art Museum of EstoniaPlease note that all branches of the Art Museum of Estonia will be closed on December 24–26, December 29, and December 31–January 1. You’re very welcome to visit us on December 23, when all branches will be open until 3 p.m. We’ll also be happy to see you again from December 27 to 28 and on December 30, when the museum is open as usual. In the new year, all branches and exhibitions will reopen on Friday, January 2.

Kumu turns 20 and celebrates its birthday all year long

For twenty years, Kumu has been home to the world’s only permanent exhibition of Estonian art and has organised outstanding international and Estonian art exhibitions. Throughout its anniversary year, Kumu will look both to the past and to the future with its programme of exhibitions and special events.

Kumu’s new book and exhibition introduce Carl Sigismund Walther, a promoter of art life in 19th-century Tallinn
Kumu Art MuseumStarting on Thursday, 4 December, the Kumu Art Museum project space will host the exhibition Carl Sigismund Walther: In the Artist’s Living Room, which accompanies the publication of the first comprehensive monograph on Walther. Walther was one of the innovators of the role and status of artists in 19th-century Estonia and a promoter of Tallinn’s art scene. The authors of the book and curators of the exhibition are Triin Kröönström and Kadi Polli.

Kumu’s new exhibition explores Estonian and German art and history
Kumu Art MuseumFrom Friday, 24 October, the Great Hall of the Kumu Art Museum will host a high-profile joint exhibition by the Art Museum of Estonia and the Dresden State Art Collections, Spiegel im Spiegel: Encounters between Estonian and German Art from Lucas Cranach to Arvo Pärt and Gerhard Richter. After a successful run in Dresden over the summer, the exhibition will now open in Estonia. It is being curated by Kadi Polli, Marion Ackermann and Sergey Fofanov.
