Treasure Hunt: Sheep in the Bottom Right Corner
It is said that Iceland has so many sheep that there is one fluffy animal for every inhabitant. That’s almost 400 000 in total! The sheep-herding season lasts throughout the summer and culminates in an event called the réttir. During the réttir, the entire surrounding community gather to help the shepherds round up the sheep from the countryside. The community work together to help the sheep find their homes.
Throughout the Kumu courtyard festival, visitors of all ages are invited to take part in Kumu’s réttir, or sheep-herding game. To take part, you must find at least five sheep in the courtyard and take pictures of them. Together we will find all the sheep and herd them together. A prize awaits the good shepherds at the Kumu ticket office!
