How far away is Iceland? What colours are the rocks and what’s going on in the capital? In the Letters to and from Iceland workshop, you can read letters written in Reykjavík and send your own letter to Iceland.

The letters are written and read by Mona, who recently moved to Iceland. She is discovering the local culture and invites participants to discover Iceland through her letters. If you want to know something about life in Iceland, or if Mona’s letters have piqued your curiosity, write to her. Mona will investigate your curiosities about Iceland and write back to you.
Writing materials and other stationary items will be on the table all day and evening; you can come to the writing corner, leave and come back again with the questions you discovered in the midst of the festival buzz.

Mona Tärk (living in Iceland) is spending the summer and autumn in Reykjavík, volunteering in photography and environmental projects. She has been writing letters for over a decade and increasingly enjoys spending time and focusing on her friends. Apart from writing letters, Mona enjoys spending time with art, dance, poetry, and searching for fierce rocks.

Hildegard (who will facilitate the workshop) has also been to Iceland. She is a skilled crafter and passionate about all things new.

The workshop is part of the Kumu Courtyard Festival: Icelandic Currents and will take place in the Kumu atrium.
