Shared Experiences: Anna-Stina Treumund: How to Recognise a Lesbian? (in Russian)

In November, we will visit the exhibition showcasing the works of the artist Anna-Stina Treumund (1982–2017). She was one of the first artists in Estonia to openly identify as a lesbian. In her works, she addressed her personal experiences and explorations related to identity, gender and belonging. Event is in Russian.
Treumund’s art shows what it means to be a woman in a society where expectations and rules can be highly restrictive, especially in post-Soviet Estonia, where such issues did not receive much attention.
The exhibition also includes works by other artists who influenced Treumund’s oeuvre (such as Marju Mutsu and Kai Kaljo), as well as by younger artists who continue to explore self-image in their work.
While the exhibition deals with some complex and sensitive issues, it offers an opportunity to see the world through someone else’s eyes and to better understand how art can help express what is personal, brave and honest.

About the series

The series “Shared Experiences” aims to create an environment that is cohesive and facilitates debate between generations. Leisurely tours introduce the permanent and temporary exhibitions of Kumu. Each tour is followed by a talk and workshop with the programme manager and invited guests at the Kumu Education Centre, where tea and biscuits will be served.
“Shared Experiences” is an excellent opportunity to meet fellow culture lovers your age, learn something new, and share your knowledge and experience with other participants and the programme managers.Help shape a new series! At the end of each meeting, the programme manager will distribute feedback forms, where participants can write down their observations, wishes and suggestions.
Participation is free of charge with an annual pass to the Art Museum of Estonia or a Museum Card.
