Elephant Bullet. International Video Art Project

Location: Kumu main stairwell

The exhibition is a cooperative project between artist groups in Estonia, Lithuania and Denmark, and will be displayed on monitors located in the stairways of Kumu.

Relying on information from Gorilla, the project manager: “Elephant Bullet was conceived by artists from Denmark, Lithuania and Estonia in Berlin, in a Vietnamese restaurant in the Prenzlauer Bergi district, to be more precise. I guess it was in 2006. At the dinner, it was discussed whether the following 15 years or 15 years and one second should be dealt with.” You probably remember the famous sentence from Andy Warhol, where he gives everyone the theoretical possibility of becoming famous for 15 minutes.

Elephants have megalomaniacally derived 15 long and concise years from the hypotheses of Warhol, where he deals with minutes. Celebrated artists are entitled to creative liberty, and the exposure of screenings in well-designed modernist stairways of Kumu will tune the spectator into surprises that are produced by jointly undertaken art games. The exposition of Elephants includes reflections on art and the place of the artist, which is an excellent viewpoint on the world, where an artist does not have a proper place after all. Aggressive effects, beautiful choreographic performances, and observations on life, objects and people proceed from this fact.

It is not a surprise that the staff of Elephant Bullet has remarkably expanded compared to the initial group that came together in 2006. This is a law of nature, because elephants for the most part move around as big herds that include different generations. And the eventual destination of each artist is indeed a museum.
