Drop-in Workshop: Elven Houses
At times unexpected buildings jut out of Iceland’s extraordinary landscape: small huts for elves, still revered in local mythology. The elven houses, or alfhol, signal the presence of elves or fairies and warn passers-by of their domain. They are said to be territorial and, despite their size, powerful creatures who actually own the environment around them. Humans are merely guests.
We will build elven houses and dream about what kind of huts our local fairies would live in, keeping an eye on the land and our well-being. The workshop is open to all ages.
The workshop is a part of Kumu Courtyard Festival: Icelandic Currents and will take place in Kumu’s education center.
