CANCELLED! Cartouche-making workshop
The workshop, which will take place on Saturday, 20 March at 1 pm, is part of the finissage programme for the exhibition Egypt of Glory: Art from the Nile Valley.
The participants will be making cartouches out of thin sheets of metal, onto which their names will be embossed in Egyptian hieroglyphics. Cartouches in Ancient Egypt were shaped like ovals with horizontal bars at the bottom. Both the birth names of the pharaohs and the throne names given to them at the time of their coronations were recorded on these cartouches.
The workshop is suitable for adults and children 10 years and older. Younger participants will be able to use stamps to write their names on paper in hieroglyphics.
The workshop will be conducted in Estonian, but English-language translations can be arranged.
Participation in the workshop is permitted without pre-registration.
Participation is included with a museum ticket.
