Animation: Studio Ghibli and others. Lecture and workshop (in Estonian)
The lecture focuses on why Studio Ghibli’s animated films are so remarkable, how Hayao Miyazaki started his professional journey, and which topics he keeps addressing in his art, as well as what makes Yuri Norshtein’s stop-motion puppet animation different from Miyazaki’s CGI, and why “Hedgehog in the Fog” is the best animation film in history.
In addition the lecture examines what is special about Tomm Moore’s art, why he has been called “the next Miyazaki”, what kind of animated films he makes and why.
The lecture culminates in a creative workshop with the assignment mirroring the topics discussed during the lecture.
