The Kumu Art Museum invites 16–24-year-olds to submit proposals for the programme of the Kumu Courtyard festival, which will take place on 7 June 2025.
What is the Kumu Courtyard Festival?
The festival is a one-day family event with a diverse programme. Taking place in Kumu’s inner courtyard, it brings together different communities, caterers, musicians and creatives, and it serves as a platform for cultural dialogues. This year’s festival is inspired by the solo exhibition of the Icelandic video artist and painter Ragnar Kjartansson, A Boy and a Girl and a Bush and a Bird.
We are specifically looking for performative acts, installations, workshops, lectures and other creative contributions connected with the following keywords:
- Contemporary Icelandic culture
- The sea and seafood
- Vikings and fairies
- Nordic identity
- The Wild West vs Nordic nature
- Performance and duration art
- Feminism and self-ironic macho culture
- Music
- Repetition and timelessness
Please submit a written proposal (one to two pages long) that includes the following details:
- Description of the contents
- Duration of the programme
- Target audience
- Maximum number of participants
- The exact place in Kumu where the project is expected to be carried out
- Estimated budget
Deadline: 14 April 2025
