Open Call to caterers and experience service providers: Kumu Courtyard Festival 2025

The Kumu Art Museum is inviting caterers (e.g. cafes and street food providers) and businesses offering experience services to submit proposals for the Kumu Courtyard Festival, taking place on 7 June 2025.

What is the Kumu Courtyard Festival?

The festival is a one-day family event with a diverse programme. Taking place in Kumu’s inner courtyard, it brings together different communities, caterers, musicians and creatives, and it serves as a platform for cultural dialogues. This year’s festival is inspired by the solo exhibition of the Icelandic video artist and painter Ragnar Kjartansson, A Boy and a Girl and a Bush and a Bird.

Who is welcome to participate?

  • Caterers (cafes and street food providers) offering creative and high-quality fast food, Nordic, Icelandic or Viking-inspired dishes, seafood and timeless natural recipes.
  • Beverage providers, including baristas and soft drink manufacturers.
  • Experience service providers organising various activities, from performative actions and installations to workshops and lectures.
  • Musicians (bands, DJs and solo artists) whose repertoire includes indie, electronic, jazz, pop, folk or experimental music, especially music influenced by Nordic, Icelandic or Viking culture, or with a unique and authentic perspective.

We expect proposals which relate to the following keywords:

  • Nordic identity, traditions and cuisine
  • The Wild West vs. Nordic nature
  • Viking and fairy mythology
  • Icelandic contemporary culture
  • Performance and duration art
  • Music

Please submit a written proposal (one to two pages long) with the following specifications:
