Reminders to the Event Organiser

General information

NB! The Kumu Art Museum only provides the rooms; the event organiser is responsible for organising the event itself.

Events can be organised in the rooms of the Kumu Art Museum (excluding the Kumu Auditorium and its lobby on the 1st floor) at times when the museum is closed to visitors.

Opening hours of the Museum

Please note:

  • In the evenings, events can start half an hour after the museum’s closing time.
  • On days when the museum is closed, there are no time limitations for the events.
  • Events can last until midnight, (in special cases later, upon agreement).
  • Preparations in the atrium can begin half an hour before the museum’s closing time, provided that there are no disturbances to the usual work of the museum.

On national holidays, it is not possible to organise any events in Kumu due to security arrangements.

Riiklikel pühadel on muuseum valverežiimis ja ürituste korraldamine Kumu hoones pole võimalik.

Booking

If you have booked a room in advance by e-mail or phone, we kindly ask you to confirm your booking by sending a letter of guarantee (using your own letterhead) to the museum’s e-mail address at least two weeks prior to the date of the event. For bigger events, the Art Museum of Estonia concludes a contract with the organiser.

Conditions to be met by the letter of guarantee:

  • The letter of guarantee has to be written on the organising institution’s/company’s letterhead.
  • The letter of guarantee should be addressed to Sirje Helme, member of the board of the SA Eesti Kunstimuuseum foundation.
  • The letter of guarantee has to affirm that public property will be preserved and that the invoice will be paid as requested.
  • The letter of guarantee has to include the name/topic of the event and any additional services, the date of the event and its duration.
  • We also require the full name of the organising institution, its address and registry code.

If necessary, we may ask the client to conclude appropriate contracts with the Estonian Authors’ Society (e.g. for authorised use of music).

Transport

If you wish to use props, floral compositions etc., the transport of any such items can be carried out via the car tunnel from Laagna Road.

Prior coordination (24 hours in advance at the latest) regarding the time schedule and people concerned is requested.

Required information:

  • licence plate number of the vehicle,
  • name and contact details of the driver,
  • time of entry (service prior to the event),
  • time of exit (service after the event).

Safety rules

Food and drinks are not allowed in the exhibition halls. Using flash when taking photos is forbidden.

We would like to point out that it is forbidden in the entire building to:

  • smoke (including e-cigarettes),
  • use stage smoke,
  • use open flame (including candles),
  • heat/cook food (on stoves or grills),
  • use chafing dishes (except electric).

Additional options

In addition to the above, the exhibition halls of the museum can be opened for visits during an event upon request from the event organisers and other museum-related activities can also be pre-ordered.
