Introduction by the film director Priit Pääsuke.
“Impromptu” is an experimental concert film about people who have dived deeply into improvisational music and have explored its vast opportunities by breaking notes into tiny fragments. They believe that their music can be the acoustic reincarnation of a soul.
Forgetting the seams holding tri-chords together, you’ll find yourself in the fifth or sixth harmonic parallel. Most likely alone but content. Thoroughly independent. These choices require abandoning any evaluation and any evaluators. The only thing that exists is total subjectivity, which is simultaneously right and wrong. Moving ahead means moving closer.
Participants in the film: Rainer Jancis, Roome Jakabi, Fred Frith, Andres Noormets, Sten Rudström, Rasmus Merivoo, Joel Tammik, Taavi Kerikmäe, Mart Soo, Timothy Dahl, Kevin Shea, Jeremy Gustin, Alex Syner, Greg Albert, Max Almario et al.
