Imaginative Landscapes
Takes place on 18.09, 25.09 and 02.10

The course will be held in English!
In this three-part painting course, the participants will learn to imagine landscapes and to paint them with watercolours. The course includes an introduction to landscape painting and watercolour (brushwork, texture, colour transition, composition and painting in layers). By the end of the course, each participant will have made a watercolour of an imagined landscape.
All supplies will be provided to you, but you may also bring your own painting equipment.
Andrei Kedrin is an artist and instructor who mainly focusses on illustration and portraiture. He has also launched the series Wednesday Sketching.

Autumnal Still Life
Takes place on 02.10 and 09.10
From 4.30 pm to 7.30 pm
The two-part course is suitable for both beginners who want to take their first steps in still life painting and for advanced amateur painters. The participants can look for inspiration in the still lifes in Kumu’s exposition. The artworks will be made with oil paints after a composition set up in the Kumu studio. At the beginning of the course, the instructor will give a short introduction to oil painting. All necessary supplies will be provided.
On the days of the course, the participants can visit the museum free of charge.
The course is held in Estonian, but English translation is possible.

Copying Paintings Course at a Kumu exhibition
Takes place on 21.11, 28.11, 05.12, 12.12 and 19.12
From 4.30 pm to 7.30 pm
Copying paintings is a traditional learning method for artists to hone their skills. The copying mostly takes place in museums. During the five-part course of the Kumu Art Studio, you will get to know the theory and practice of copying a painting. You will be using oil paints to paint a detail or a whole composition, adopting a technique similar to the original. The course includes individual instruction. Painting will take place at a Kumu exhibition. The five-part course lasts for 20 academic hours.
The course is held in Estonian, but English translation is possible.
